(So I sent him an e-mail after SKYPE to find out how his week went and how everyone was progressing so that's why it is so short.)

Yeah! It was so weird. It was good to be able to see and talk to everyone again. I always enjoy it.
Yeah so N who we have been working with for a while, J also who we have been working on, and a new one who's name is M. She is the sister of an investigator so we should have a few here soon! I am super excited for them. We had a great week. I went on an exchange with Elder Christensen which was rather interesting. We had a great day though. And it was so funny cause we went to Jimmy Johns for lunch and we here a voice say, "I'll take care of it elders." So turns out it was the area 70. Elder Koons or Coons. Not sure which way so we talked to him and his wife for a while. They were just shopping at King of Prussia mall. We also had lunch at the Desmond again which is that really nice place the Bro. M takes us to. It was so good! We had a great zone training also on Thursday. There were some great trainings and I really learned how I can be even better. You never stop learning that is for sure. But everything went really well this week and we are excited for this week as well. Just so hard to think that this transfer is almost over! I love ya momma!

May 2, 2016

Hey Momma!

So hard to believe. I told B he has me for one more month. He said, "Don't threaten me!" Lol. Yeah the new place is much better than where we were! Bigger, nicer, more updated. So we are happy! Yeah I told that to Elder Jensen because I seriously feel like we just skyped and yet it's been about 5 months ago. We will figure out a time and everything cause we are still not exactly sure!

So this week. It turned out to still be good! I got a bad stomach bug but I think from something that I ate. I was throwing up and had diarrhea and I think I actually had a fever too. I was freezing cold. I don't know why I keep getting sick! But I'm feeling better. Still recuperating but I feel much better than the other day. I think I dropped a couple pounds. But anyways! So N finally made it to church! She was so happy to be there. We are seeing her again tomorrow, and she is still on track for her baptism on the 22nd. J and J will be there next week for sure. They actually fed us dinner on Saturday. I'll send you some pictures that I took with there little son. He loves us and he is like one of my favorite little kids. We set J with a date of June 12. She is just trying to figure out her schedule so she can come to church now. So we have two more baptisms on the way! We finally taught M last night and she is awesome. We are excited about her. Hopefully we will get her with a date too but before I leave! The kid was not home yesterday but we are going to try to catch him this week. So we had a solid week. I just was down for a few days but we finished out strong cause we still taught 14 lessons. We had a great testimony meeting and I really felt the Spirit strong. A couple people just bore there testimony of the missionaries and thanked us missionaries. I don't really get emotional but I did a little bit and while I was translating. We also had a great lunch with Bro. R this week. He just texted to see if we were hungry and asked if we wanted to have lunch with him. You have to meet the R's. They are the best. He is just a good role model as well of hard work like dad. So we had a good week. Me and Elder Jensen are doing some good work over here we feel.

I was so oblivious to what missionaries really did. I never knew the struggles or anything or just how they lived.

Bro. R just got called to be the Stake Young Men's president. He said in the stake and others that they are just losing youth before and after missions. He told me if I go less active when I get home that he will hunt me down lol. But I said I will not I promise!

Oh! You need to check on Two Brothers two on Lds.org. It is amazing! Let me know when you do. It is a whole series. Well I'll send a few more pictures! Love ya momma and talk to ya on Sunday!

Hey Momma!

So hard to believe. I feel like April just started but now it's already ending. Elder Hillstead started his mission on a bike! I loved just walking and taking SEPTA in Philly. I miss that! Having a car has its ups and downs. It would be rough in the summer! The weather is perfect right now up here. But I know it will start to heat up as we get closer here to June.

Yeah so we had an excellent week! N is progressing well and not drinking any coffee and told us how she really wants to get to church. Satan keeps holding her back because this week her daughter had to go to hospital so she was not able to come yesterday! But other than that she is doing very well. Bro. H, our ward mission leader, came out with us to see her. You have the meet the H's too cause they are the best. He just got back from Africa hiking a mountain. Mount Kilimanjaro.  J and J are doing well. Sister S in our ward has a daughter who just got home from her mission on Tuesday from Argentina . In the Buenos Aires mission. Not sure if it was north or south. She came out teaching with us Saturday so that was cool. She seemed like she was a very good missionary but the accent is way different. We have to go by A and we could not see M because we did not have a man! We tried to get one but no one could so we rescheduled but she should be super solid it seems like. We just found lots of new investigators this week. But we will see where they go! We did get to see J, and she is progressing very well. We just have to get her to church and get her set with a baptismal date! I feel we worked real hard this week for sure. The Lord blesses you as you are obedient and I have really seen that. This one kid literally just asked who we were this past week and said he would like to meet with us. That will be this week so we will see how that goes! I also went on an exchange this week with a Elder Payne. He is from Vegas and has been out for almost a year and a half. He is a great elder.

We had a funny dinner with the M's too who are a young couple in our Ward. They are from Utah, and their daughter is so cute and has so much energy. She loves to play. Bro. M said when Sister M was pregnant that when her daughter was like a pea size but had legs that they were just kicking. The doctor said, "look, she's dancing!" Lol I laughed so hard cause you would have to meet the daughter.

Oh! And we had interviews with President. They were great! He shined our shoes as a gift and expression of love to us. He is such a great man. He asked if I was getting trunky lol. I said I'm honestly feeling ok! He talked a little about marriage and how I will have to bring whoever I decide to marry up to meet them. And it was good to talk to Sister Anderson. She is just the sweetest lady ever and best mission mom. She needs an award for it. S who just go off his mission drove us down. We should be going to Philly again soon with Elder Weisler and Elder Hopkin. Bro. R is going to take us again. So that was a lot of my week! Just a solid and fun week! Oh and Elder Jensen has been out for 10 months. He is great and we get along real well!

It is so true because some just do not and won't change not matter what which is ridiculous. I never realized how stubborn people are. I feel I have changed and allowed myself to be change because I know I needed it.

Well we will figure out the time and everything as it gets even closer for Skype. I feel like we just skyped so it is hard to believe it is already here again! Time goes to quickly. Well I love ya momma and I think I have some pictures to send also!

Hey Momma!

They do go by too quickly. Wow! So they are really winding down now. Yeah! We are trying to figure out if want to do it (SKYPE) at B's or somewhere else so we will see. Yeah at least I will have that trip and it will be in the D.C temple! Which I already went to once and it's amazing. It is such a huge temple. I just know I am going to be so awkward. I never understood why missionaries were so awkward around girls until I became one.  I feel like I have changed a bit. Just in different ways and how I really think about things.

Yeah I just finished it (Book of Mormon)! So I've restarted. It is a short time but I will do it! Elder Weisler said if you read 10 pages a day of D&C that you can finish it in a month. So I'm working on all of it! Also finishing Preach My Gospel again.
Yeah so I wanna say 13 or 14 (lessons)? Some cancelled on us that we were supposed to have. We were not able to see J this week, but we did see N and set her for a date of May 22! She should definitely get baptized on that date. We really feel she can make it. J and J are doing well. They are coming back around and really trying to come and progress. So we will see what this next week brings! A had to cancel, and we did not see R. But we will this week! However, we found an awesome lady M. She is from El Salvador and she seems very interested. We talked with her for a bit last night cause there was not man so we set an appointment. We also met her two daughters who were on there way to moving down to Atlanta. One just graduated from Penn State and is going for a masters. They lived in Dallas for a while also! The girls looked like twins but were a year apart so I talked to them about that. We would teach them too if they were not moving! So we are excited to teach her and hopefully her husband. So lots of good things happening right now. I want to say that was one of the best things and the lesson we had with N cause she is really doing great. Basically stopped drinking coffee. On Tuesday we had a great meeting again for all the district leaders and so I saw a Elder Hillstead, Weisler, Hopkin, and Riley! And some other good elders who are friends now too. It was so great! Just learned how to be better district leaders and how we really lead out. They related us to the bishops of wards. I learned a lot and it was super good to see all of them. I'll send you a few picture too.

My district is doing pretty well. A few struggling missionaries, but I'm just trying to work hard and lead by example. I will be doing some exchanges here soon with the elders to help them out cause their area is struggling pretty bad. I love the elders but there comes a point in your mission when you just have to let the Lord change you. You have to. And just work work work! The biggest motivation is probably district meetings. That is where they learn and have to learn how to apply it. So I try to really think and pray about what they need and what I will train on. We also have interviews tomorrow so I can get some good feedback from President.

Did you get the picture from Sister Alvarez? We went to help them move a couple of things this morning and she made us a super good breakfast! I won't eat for the rest of the day because of that one haha. Me and Elder Hillstead could not believe that it has been that long ago because me and him are the oldest Spanish elders in the mission right now! Elder Weisler is excited to hang out after the mission. Well I love ya momma and I will send some pictures to you here in a bit! Talk to ya again soon and looking forward to skype!

Elder McArthur

Hey Momma!

I can't believe it! Time flies!

It was a great conference and I have looked over some of the talks again because they were very inspirational and powerful. Wow! I did not know that they were going to split the stake. I don't even know what to expect coming back at all because of course I will not know anyone in the Ward but that's ok. I'm excited to meet a lot of them. I feel they never talk about things that they had planned but that is ok because that happens in lessons all the time! Which it is always cool to see. The Lord really brings so many things to our memories and I have seen that throughout my mission. I am about to finish the Book of Mormon again! I have about 15 pages left. My goal is to read it once per transfer. Which will be hopefully two more times.

I definitely will! I will be reading a ton. I feel I enjoy learning and studying so much more now than I ever did. I will be working hard for sure. I will not know what to do with myself though when I get home honestly. But it'll be good to catch up on lots of things I don't write!

Yeah!  We taught 17 lessons this past week. We should finally hit 20 this week. N is progressing well but we have a couple new people for this week! Ones name is A and he is the boyfriend of a member and the other is R. He is a referral from the assistants actually. So we are seeing him tomorrow. We are excited for this week. Everything is going very well! People have just been giving us referrals. It is so crazy that Elder Weisler is the new assistant but he is awesome and a great missionary. Elder Beebe went to Scranton! So up north. But he is enjoying it. I think the best thing about this week was all of the referrals. Also lots of less actives at church yesterday! One of them is the R family and we visited them yesterday. He has two snakes and Elder Jensen is terrified of snakes. So Brother R says, "the Lord has brought you to me to help you overcome this fear." Lol. In the funniest voice so he brings them out and then one started slithering towards him and he about peed himself! It was so funny! So that was a good visit. Just lots of progress. We saw J and J and things are looking a little more up for them. J is starting to gain a little more of a desire and now she said she wants us to go teach her sister also which is awesome! So plenty of people to teach write now. It has been a total miracle with all these people. Just have to trust in the Lord and that he is listening and answering your prayers even if it takes time. J is trying to change her schedule a little so that way she can come to church but other than that she is great. I do keep a journal. I was lacking for a while actually but have picked back up and have not missed a day in over a month. It helps me out to and it feel good to write down what happened in a day.

Yeah I was not cause they gave a younger one a chance to do so but then he got transferred and now I am again (a district leader). He wants me to really help out the district and motivate them. Get some confidence behind them because I have found that there are lots of people who really lack confidence and just don't trust and believe in themselves. But it's like Elder Holland said, "we get credit for trying." That's even if we fail.

Well I love ya momma!

April 4, 2016

Hey Momma!

So! Conference was definitely super awesome for me. I love what President Utchdorf said in the Priesthood session, "Pride is easily provoked, short tempered, selfish, hides weaknesses under excuses, impatient, etc. Contention will fade if we become humble." It makes me take a look back and see how I can change to become even better cause it is hard. But I remember when they talked about things not being easy. I have worked really hard on patience but wow it can be tough. I wanna say it was President Nelson who really talked about realizing the power that we have as Priestholders but how we have to really remain worthy of using it and not just get casual with it. There was some cool experiences that I really liked which he shared. Lots of good inspiration and a very spiritual weekend for me. I really enjoyed Elder Renlund's talk also and how he said that "murmuring" is the modern "childish whining." I thought that was hilarious! I took plenty of notes and everything.

So it was a great week for us! We taught a lot and did lots of service. N watched conference and J too! We actually watched the last session with Bro. C and her which was good. Cause we talked about it afterwards. Teaching is going well but nothing really new to update you on yet. Well! I guess we did have a great lesson with N on the word of wisdom. She is a big coffee drinker so it won't be too easy but we know that she can do it and she does too. We took a good member with us who is a convert but has been a member for a while and he used to drink a lot of coffee and stuff too so he was really able to empathize with her. Helped a ton! Oh, so during conference sessions, we had an awesome lunch with Bro. M. He took us to the place called the Desmond. He has been in the hospital for a bit but got out just recently. He feeds us fairly often.  Everything is moving along well in the area. N and J should be getting baptized soon! Last P-day was super awesome. We went on a tour of Independence Hall and checked out some good sites. He bought all of us lunch at a Reading Terminal Market. It was super fun. Bro. R is the best. He even brought a hot-spot with him so we could email while we were in the car. We worked out with him this morning again and then picked up another Elder just for the day. His name is Elder Barton. He is super cool and is serving up in Hazleton in the area I was in. He also served in Spring Garden with a Elder Wasden. Bro. R also took us to Panera Bread. He is too good to us. We have some good stuff tonight also. A lesson with N and a good dinner with the Ms. They are the one from Louisiana. We are still teaching E and he has been coming to church and everything. I think something that strengthened me a lot was just conference because it lifts me up and sometimes I feel they are talking right at me. I think this week we taught 12 but last week was 17. We average probably 15 right now.

So Elder Beebe is getting transferred! It's pretty sad cause we worked super well together and got a long real well. But I am staying. I will probably go home from here which I am totally ok with. We will not know who our comps are till tomorrow or anything. I saw the assistants today and they said I will love my comp. Elder Weisler is the new assistant!

I can't believe it is just winding down! Elder Weisler is so excited though to hang out after the mish. It has been awesome to be around him again. Oh! And I got called to be District leader again. For the 4th time lol. Cause I was not last transfer but I am again this transfer. I guess President needs me to help out some elders coming in is what they said.

I'm glad Cody is ok though! That is so crazy that that happened. I hope the older gentleman heals quickly. I think that was the best things for those Elders though. I can not even imagine that happening here or something.

I am excited to see Jordan and Daniel for sure. It will be so far after going 2 years without seeing everyone! I don't even know what to think.

Well I love ya momma! I'll send some pictures. Talk to ya soon!

Love,
Elder McArthur

March 28, 2016

Hey Momma!

We had a great time down in the city today. But luckily Bro. R was nice and bought our lunch.

Yeah! I have read about it on Lds.org. (the bombing in Brussels with the missionaries) Wow! I didn't know Elder Hillstead knew him. That is crazy. There has to be some sort of reason. That is just so scary and what is happening over there. Cody was the first one I thought of so I checked to make sure I did not see his name. I definitely am aware. I just can't imagine how that will impact them but it seems the missionaries stayed strong.

We had a great week! Plenty of people at church this week. N is still doing great. We are still teaching E, and he actually is already ordained an Elder! But actually now we are teaching his work partner. She is very interested too and we also got another new investigator! Her name is J. She is the girlfriend of a less active who is slowly starting to come back now, and it would be so cool because he could baptize her! N would definitely be the closest to baptism I believe right now. This week we taught 17 lessons so it was a great week. There is a less active lady that we are teaching and she had a son on a mission who actually just returned home! On Wednesday. He is basically helping her get re-activated. His mission completely changed him and he is going to start helping us out so we are excited. His name is S. J who is J's wife finally came to church! He ended up having to work. We were pretty bummed about that, but we are going to see them again this weekend. It is just hard to believe that transfers are coming up! We had a good Easter. Our dinner cancelled actually cause sister S, the wife of the family that was going to feed us, got sick. But luckily another member just called and said to come over to eat so of course we went. But it was definitely a different Easter. Just did not really feel like it. But we had some great lessons this week. I don't really have some crazy spiritual story from this week but I definitely feel I'm listening to the Spirit easier and really trying to just let it guide me because it does all that time. I'm just excited for General Conference honestly cause I love hearing from the Prophet and Apostles.

Translating doesn't make me nervous but it helps my Spanish a lot. I am trying to really continue improving and I love it. It is very tiring though for sure.

Time definitely keeps flying! Hard to believe we will be skyping so soon again. I have some pictures to send home so I'll send them. I'll tell you more about our day today next week and all of that cause I'm kind of short on time. I'm glad Dad enjoys it out there. Sounds like it was definitely meant to be! Well I love ya momma and I'll send pictures! Talk to ya soon!

Hey Momma!

Wow another week. So I was in a few days. I actually had a fever. I haven't been sick like that in a long time I feel like. However, we still had a pretty solid week! We only taught 10 lessons but that was with me being in. We could have had a lot more. But this week will hopefully be better! N is doing great. We went on an exchange the day we were going to teach her so Elder Beebe went with another elder. She cooked for them! He said it was super good. When a Hispanic cooks for you that's when you know they trust you. So she is still doing wonderful. She actually had a couple good questions about her reading as well which was great. She should be baptized once we can get her to church! Cause she is gaining such a testimony but really of the gospel. We do have great member support. Bro. G he was just branch president of the Spanish branch even visits our solid investigators. Like her and J. Also turns out that E, the new guy, is already a member! But knows nothing. He only got baptized because his family did it. So his wife and kids are good strong members in Nicaragua. Crazy! But he came to stake conference yesterday so that was great. I basically translated all of stake conference lol. That was interesting! But I feel I did ok. It was cool because they called a new stake president so we had to 70's there. Elder Smith and Perkins I believe. Elder Perkins is from the 1st quorum of the 70. He actually is in charge of the Lds.org website. He monitors it and has to approve whatever goes on it. The new stake president in President Brown. His is from England. There are a few people in the stake from England actually. When we did an exchange this week with the zone leaders I got to eat at one of there houses.HUGE home haha and they were super great people. They do love the U.S. Also whooped a member in the other ward at ping pong. They have a beautiful home as well. They are the H's. They actually go out to Scottsdale occasionally cause they have family there. She is from South Africa and served a Spanish speaking mission. Still speaks it very well and spoke with me a little bit. He served in Little Rock, Arkansas. Great couple. So it was just a good week overall. A is 21. Him and Elder Newbold actually have the exact same birthday. Z just turned 20 back in February. Yeah we do teach English classes every Wed. night. It always goes well cause I learn new words from doing it. Oh! I also met Mr. Dominican Republic for bodybuilding. Him and his wife are members and just moved up here not too long ago. He is professionally bodybuilding. The man is HUGE! So that was super cool. Very solid members. Lots of interesting things. I also got to see Elder Pule, Brklacich who came out with me, Elder Bowman, and a few others who I have served around. It was just real fun seeing everything and having four of my comps there. I will get the picture and send it. I don't think I'm missing anything!

Yeah I really try to listen (to the Spirit) and even if it is something small to just go with it. I know the Lord won't lead me astray.

Thanks for the quotes momma! I am excited for General Conference and to hear from all of them. I have a picture or two I will send also today. Can you send me that picture sister Alvarez took? Yeah it snowed just a little! But I guess it passed us by. The weather has been so weird and crazy here! Just like Texas. Well I love ya momma! Talk to ya again soon!

Love,
Elder McArthur

March 14, 2016

Hey Momma!

So it was a pretty solid week. I think the best thing was this week we had a movie night of watching the Meet the Mormons. N came to that! She loved it so much and we also got the opportunity to show her around the church cause she wanted to see how it was set up. We explained each part and she really loved it. The only thing holding her back from being baptized is her husband having to work in Philly on the weekends and she has to go with him. They are trying to figure out what they can do so she can come to church. She would be such a solid member and I feel will be. She is progressing the best right now. So J who is J's wife is wanting to learn more about fasting so we taught them that. They are really trying to figure everything out because they know what they need to do. She just keeps trying to put everything on him but I think she is realizing she needs to be pulling her weight. We always bring members over there with us and that helps them a lot. So we will see what happens there. Cause he feels bad he was not able to be baptized this month cause he was supposed to be. I feel we will have a few baptisms here for sure so I'm super excited. F and H are doing ok. Don't know why they did not come to church but we are laying it down with H too because Z comes by every Sunday to get them. And the last two they have overslept and so it's a waste of Z's time and gas. We treated Z to Zwahlens. The SUPER good ice cream place. I need to send you guys some chocolates or chocolate dipper apples. It's not just ice cream but all sorts of stuff and all fresh made. We get half off! Z has been helping us out a lot. He reminds me of A from my first area. We are seeing E tomorrow. He is feeding us lunch. He randomly showed up at our English classes! We were excited about that. So I'll let you know how that goes next week. We had Zone conference this past Friday and it was so great. I got to see so many missionaries I have not seen in a while. I have a picture or two that I will send. It was so great. Learned so much about our desires and how that effects our mission. Our heart has to be in the right place and we have to allow ourselves to change. I'm really trying to just continue to let myself change and I feel I have a lot. It was wonderful to receive training from President and Sister Anderson. I can really feel the love they do have for us and they always express it. I had 4 of my companions there so i will get that picture to you. So we called A and her husband answered. He said they were interested but that's a lie cause she was very. So we are going to stop by and see what we can do. You can not deny the spirit. ALWAYS follow the promptings. The won't lead you astray and I have found that.

We had dinner with The M family that are in our ward and they just said to soak it all in. They both served missions and two of their kids so far have. Their son S comes out a lot with us. They are from Mexico and actually worked at school that is now the MTC in Mexico. So they have so many pictures from there. His Brother is actually a mission President in Mexico and his parents are serving their mission in the mission of their son! So cool! So he is their mission President. So that's super cool.

Thank you for the quotes! I enjoy them a lot. I try to share them.

I'm definitely staying focused and working hard over here. But I'll send you some pictures. Love ya momma!

Love,
Elder McArthur

March 7, 2016

Hey Momma!

I can't believe that (that it was his 20 month mark)! Wow! Me and Elder Beebe just are shocked of how fast the weeks go but it's because we are staying busy and got good work here. So! Lots of great miracles from this week. So! We saw J and his wife last night. We kind of had to really lay everything out for them and how they really got to start progressing better if they want to get baptized and they took it well. So we will see what happens but they are doing well. So we went to go teach N, and she had read 5 chapters in the Book of Mormon which was a miracle! Her doubts went away about what she came across and she is progressing very well. Now we just have to get her to church and she will definitely be baptized. So we are very excited for her. Everything just makes complete since to her. So we were not able to see that 16 year old kid and his name I believe was J. H and F did not come this Sunday! Z usually goes and gets them but idk what happened. We are seeing him tomorrow though. But yesterday there was this guy who is a friend of a member. His name is E. So she had given him a Book of Mormon and told him to start reading it and to pray to know if it is true. So she calls and is always following up with him. He has started reading and really wants to know and believes he will receive an answer! He is golden! So we are seeing him this week. He will definitely be baptized! No doubt. We did an exchange this week also and we stopped by some less actives but they ended up not being home. As we were leaving a really felt like we needed to knock some ones door. So we went in up to the 3rd floor and knocked it. She was Hispanic! I talked to her and she hasn't been here long in the U.S. She is from Colombia and just super solid! So we are starting to teach her. Her name is A. The spirit definitely was guiding me in that one. I mean it was a very very strong impression to do it so I did. Cause the other Elder was just a little worried cause it's an apartment complex but I did not care. He thought it was super cool too cause we just were really guided by the spirit that day. The only one that came this week was E.

Yea I feel I have really learned how to comprehend and study better. At least I hope! I really want to work hard. I realize how lazy I was. It's just truly that natural man. I really was thinking about that the other day. So we were in Priest quorum and Bro. R is the young men's president. He gave the lesson and talked about the atonement and how Christ took three of his apostles with him to the Garden of Gethsemane and told the to wait and he would be back. One of them being Peter. And when Christ have come back and so worn down and tired also, even after just having had eaten, he came and found the asleep. And so I thought, you know, I feel Peter wanted to wait and stay awake but he was just so exhausted it kind of just happened. His heart and spirit were in the right place maybe but as Christ said, "the flesh is weak." We make mistakes but we learn and move on and become better. So I really liked that a lot.  I feel I have just gained a lot of very helpful knowledge.

I know every day goes by fast over here for me! It's crazy.

I'm about to finish it again. I am in 3 Nephi right now. It is just sad of how wicked the people become again after having seen the signs of Christ birth that Samuel had testified of. But it happens. Laman and Lemuel! Same thing! But it happens to ourselves.

You know something that I thought about from that testimony is if you could maybe write a testimony and I can translate it into Spanish so I could hand them out. You and Dad could both do it. Just something to think about! But I love ya momma and wow I feel I wrote a lot so hope it's good. Talk to ya soon again!

Hey Momma!

I'm doing great. We had another great week. I think this week we got 14? The week started off just a little slow but it really picked up at the end of the week for sure. Hopefully we have some coming up! We were not able to see his (J's) wife this week but we did have a great lesson with him this week. His wife's cousin is a member and she comes to help us teach. She is great. But! We have been teaching a less active and his little brother. Their names are H and F, and they came to church! H has not been since last June or something. It's been a while but he finally came. So I don't think I have told you about Z. So Z is my age, and he is a member. He has been through a lot with drugs and stuff and his Dad just passed away right before I got here. His mom feeds us and is the sweetest lady and so he has really changed and doing good. He is planning on a mission this summer. His oldest brother served and he has 2 other brothers. One other is active and the other isn't but his mom is very active. Sister M has been a member for over 30 years. So she is Hispanic and only speak Spanish but her husband only spoke English. Lol but after so long the understood each other and learned a little of the languages! So we were not able to see that new family yesterday but hopefully this week we will. They just were not there. But we picked up a new kid who is 16. His mom is a member but we have never taught him. Great kid and so we will see where it goes. N is doing pretty well. She just came across some anti stuff but we were able to resolve it. Luckily that does not happen too often.

We did not work out with Bro. Rothey today but we will be next week. We have a dinner with them though this Tuesday. This week is looking good so far lesson wise. We want to get back up to 20 lessons or more a week. But that is just some of the stuff going on! We helped B out a little this week too service wise. It'll be fun for you guys to meet him! He is going to make us some shirts.

So Elder Hillstead is serving in Reading and then Elder Kelley is in Hazleton. It is sad that we don't get to see everyone because that was always so much fun.

Thank you for the quotes! I really like those. Well I love ya momma! I'll send a picture from our district meeting. We had the assistants and the Zone leaders there. It was good to see a Elder Hopkin. Love ya!

Hey Momma!

Doing good! We had another great week. We are averaging in between 15 and 20 lessons right now but hoping to get even more.  But investigator wise! N is doing great. She could not make it to church this Sunday but is definitely planning on next. She at least texted us. So we will see! J is doing well and his wife. We are just trying to help her quit smoking and drinking coffee but she is being a little lazy about it. I'll let you know how it goes. We did find a new family this week! Did not have a lot of time with them but I will let you know how our next appointment goes but they seem like they have a lot of potential. I really just want to try to talk about the main people we are focusing on. Things have been going great for us though. Oh and we had a third missionary with us just for the day because his companion went home. I also got to see Elder Hillstead, Kelley, Hopkin and a bunch of elders I have not seen in a while. Elder Kelley went back to Hazleton!

So that was our week! I feel like I forget stuff. We get fed every day here basically. But lots of different members too. This is the biggest ward I have been in for sure.

Yeah all the snow is jut about gone! Still a little here and there. I wish there was more. Because this time last year it was still freezing. But then again I was up north.

I definitely have to go visit Dallas though after I'm home for a little bit and have gotten settled beause I gotta see everyone's homecoming! And give mine there cause I basically grew up in that ward.

Well I love ya momma and will have to get some more pictures to ya soon. Love ya!

Hey Momma!

Nope we are both staying thank goodness!

I'm  definitely staying focused. We are starting to teach more again! I do miss Jersey but I'm loving it here.

So we had a great week! We taught 16 lessons. Found some new people. So J is doing well. His pipe burst because of the cold. We have been getting some more snow up here, and it has been freezing. We did 3 exchanges this week though so it was pretty busy. I went with Elder Bierman and then I took both of the Elders in my district. I do not know how his wife is doing right now cause we did not really get to talk to her. No one got to church this week just because Satan was playing dirty. So Elder Bierman is also from Arizona! He came out with me. He is on the left of me in the picture I sent of the people that came out with me. N is feeling a lot better now so she should be at church. We gave her a blessing.

Well I'm sorry it's kind of short! But I love ya momma! Talk to ya next week!

Love,
Elder McArthur

This is his district in Bridgeport, still with Elder Weisler (aka Jake) on the far left.  His        companion is Elder Beebe to the right of him.

Hey Momma!

Wow I forgot that tomorrow was that mark (19 months out) actually. Going too quick! Yours and Dad's birthday is coming up again also! This time last year I was now in Hazleton which is super weird.

Yeah that's awesome! I can't wait to see them again. It has been so much fun to be out here with Elder Weisler(Jake). I bet it (visiting the Weislers) was fun especially for Lizzy and Brooklyn to see each other. That is so crazy that Ashlyn is that old! Yeah Brittany is always all over the place and busy it sounds like. Elder Weisler is excited to hang out. You'll have to send him that picture.

So we had a great week! We taught a lot of lessons and got some new investigators. I try to only write about the ones that we are focusing on. J is doing great and his wife is coming around. She all of a sudden starting changing and wants to quit smoking and drinking coffee which is a miracle! She just told us she feels sick now and so we are helping her with the addition recovery program. So they are coming along. We ended up setting R with a baptismal date, but he still needs to be a little more committal to church. We had a ride for him and everything but instead he went to wash his clothes at 8 in the morning. We were pretty frustrated but things are still looking up! We also had Zone training and Elder Weisler and Beirman gave some great training. I will send a couple pictures from it. We will be going on an exchange with them on Thursday but I'll be with Elder Beirman. He is awesome too. So it'll be fun. We are about to start working out with Bro. Rothey on Mondays. He is a pretty big dude, and he said he'd help me get a little bigger before I get home lol. He is making me a workout plan for me. N is doing well! They just got very very sick this past week. Their daughter was running a fever of 104 and in the hospital. Poor girl. So we actually gave her a blessing. We saw them just yesterday, and we hope that everything will start going well with them. She is a little more into it than her husband so we shall see! They are a great family. I think this will definitely be my last area actually. We are mixed in with an English ward but there are lots of Spanish members. I translate sacrament sometimes. So we also had a wonderful dinner with the Miller family. They are from Louisiana and she is an excellent cook. She made this Mardi Gras cake  or something with different color icing and it was soooo good. She definitely has the accent. Interviews were great. President told me I was looking good cause I dropped some weight lol. I too him I could tell he has because he is trying to. But just such a great interview with him and Sister Anderson. They are so wonderful. He was just very pleased about what I have done and in this area which made me feel good. Just feeling great this week so I appreciate the fast.

Holidays and Birthdays are so different on the mission. Sometimes it just feels like another day. Elder Weisler's birthday is coming up too! We will definitely have to do something for it.

I appreciate those quotes. Sister Weisler sends quotes to Elder Weisler also. So they do help.

Well I love ya momma and I hope everything goes well this week! Send me pictures of the house as it comes along and love ya! Tell everyone there I say hello and love them! I'll send some pictures.

Love,
Elder McArthur

                                  Zone training with Elder Weisler!
His zone with he and Elder Weisler smack dab in the middle together.
I think they all go home at the same time.
He decided to get a souvenir Philly's hat.  I hope it is only a souvenir since we are Braves fans.

Hey Momma!

It's February already! So crazy. No there is still a ton (snow) around. I did get boots. We got a little more the other day but I do not know when we will get more. I bet the mountains are beautiful. We have never lived near any so it will be weird going back to mountains. I am excited to be so close to that temple for sure! I've missed the temple.

They (Daniel and Jordan) still better be there when I'm home! Yeah they will have to help me shop for stuff. I do not even know what is in style and not now. I'm just used to wearing a white shirt, slacks and tie all the time. I forgot that that's (almost 2 years ago now) when I got the call haha. I'm really excited for interviews. We have them tomorrow and I love being able to talk to President. He is such a great man.

Wow so they are very close. Gotta see the Weisler's! Let me know or send me a picture of when you see them. Yeah we talked about how it totally was when we were on our exchange. It's so crazy and to see how far we have come. He is a really great missionary.

So I do not have them right now. I think those were the main ones that we took. So this week was a little bit more of service rather than teaching. But we still had a wonderful week. I think also I found Eve Stephersons' Hispanic twin. I gotta get a picture of her and compare it to this little girl. She is the daughter of this lady N that we are teaching. We are really trying to help them progress along because she has lots of potential. Nothing too exciting but I do love doing service. It just makes you feel good inside. This weekend was just a little rough on me cause I really felt like we tried so hard but nothing really came from it. We were talking to people on the street right and left, knocking doors. I even felt really prompted to knock a door but the guy just said not interested, shook our hands and closed the door. I'm trying to pray and think of new ways of attacking the work. You can not do the same thing over and over and that is some things I have learned in the mission. I just think of D&C 11:21 and that promise. It's just hard and sad to think I'm on the end here and I just want to do my best and really help Elder Beebe. So just keep praying for me and that we will be able to get a baptism while I'm here with him. I think it'd help him stay focused and be such a boost.

It was wonderful. I think just with Elder Bednar as well and his explanation of how the spirit works. It really touched me. I've been really trying to pay close attention to every little feeling. The other day I felt I should knock a door, but passed it. But then I thought, wait, I need to go back. So we did and nothing came but I followed the spirit. So I enjoyed that a lot.

We are honestly finding new people and weeding out the ones who just won't progress. We are not trying to waste any time.

I definitely need that first one (quote) from Elder Holland. Thank ya momma. I love you!  Send any pictures my way too if you have any!

Love,
Elder McArthur

Hey Momma!

Wow! Well let it snow! So I'll tell you all about it for sure. Church was definitely cancelled.

So basically we shoveled for about 7 hours yesterday in the cold, and I need to get boots actually (which he did) because Nike shoes do not do it. But basically all we have done is walk around a little and help people get out. We also planned and rested a bit because we were told to basically stay inside and be smart. I will send a couple more pictures that I have of the snow. We spent an hour and a half digging our car out. This is by far the most snow that I have seen. Last year there was a lot in Hazleton for sure, but I did not watch it all come down like with this one. We are supposed to have a storm even worse than this one next month. So it has been a crazy week! We did not get a lot done because we also did an exchange with the Zone leaders. We both went to their area. I was with Elder Weisler (Jake), and Elder Beebe was with Elder Bierman. It was a really good exchange. We were just catching up with each other and so excited to be living so close again. He (Elder Weisler aka Jake) is an awesome missionary that is for sure. So we had a great time together. We did not do too much this week just because of those exchanges and the snow. We did have that missionary conference I think I told you about with all the missionaries in the world. It was some really great training. There were about 5 or 6 of the apostles there. I learned a lot and wrote a lot down. One of my favorite quotes was by Elder Andersen. I'm not quoting it exact, but he says that if we speak of Christ to everyone that Christ will speak of us to the Father. It was very powerful, and I really felt the spirit strong. Now on to some investigators. J! He is doing great. No one new this week. We are also working closely with a guy named R, and he should be out at church next week. Hopefully we can get another baptism here soon! I think one of the best things from this week too was the Rothey's house for dinner. They are some awesome members. He was the ward mission leader for like 8 years and they gave us both a whole box of Girl Scout cookies! Really great guy and family.  We just haven't been able to get out and see anyone cause of this weekend so I don't have updates on everyone right now. But hopefully everything will get cleared up! We are supposed to get more snow this coming Thursday though! Goodness! So that is all that has been going on.

Yeah just continuing to keep it (the mission) interesting and to focus always with the end in mind of what I want to have accomplished. This last week went well. Just preparing now for this week.

Thank ya momma! I love ya and will send a couple more pictures! Talk to ya soon!

Love,

Hey Momma!

It's very different here than there that's for sure. I saw we are going to be getting lots of snow this weekend. It's about time cause this has not been any! Well we did get a little bit yesterday actually so there is so on the ground. It is just freezing cold!

Wow! That is a huge ward. This ward has on average about 200-230. So it is a decent sized ward for sure. Lots of great members. It'll be different going home to a ward so huge. We have a ton of missionaries out from out stake. I have Lds tools so I looked on there.

Yeah he (Elder Beebe) is awesome. We get along real well. Just refining him and helping him out with little things here and there. I got to put myself back in his shoes because I just forget how it was sometimes. But we are working really well together. I think we taught 17 lessons this past week? So we are teaching a lot again. He has adjusted just fine. Still little things here and there but he is fine and loving it. This is only his 3rd transfer so he just got done being trained.

We (him and Jake aka Elder Weisler) will be going on an exchange this coming Wednesday. So he will be with me for part of my birthday so that'll be cool. He was super happy to have me back in his zone. Elder Morgan is also in our zone who I served with in Bayview.

So I'll tell you about my week! It was solid. We taught a lot. I'm starting to get to know more of the members now. It's a great ward. It has just been really cold on us. I have been trying to just continue to work as hard as I can. It just makes you feel good when you know you are working hard. So we had a zone training this past week. President and Sister Anderson came to it. Elder Weisler and his comp did an excellent job. It was really great and we also had a meeting in Broomall for all of the District leaders. It was some great training by the assistants, President and Sister Anderson. I have so many things I want to continue to really improve on. We also took out a recently returned missionary this past week. He served in Brazil so he speaks Portuguese. It was nice to really have someone who knew what they were doing, and he loved just coming out again. He has only been back a month but he said it has been so weird for him. J came to church this Sunday! He is so ready to be baptized. We went over the baptismal questions with him this week, and there iare no issues. The Gospel is so true. Last night we were teaching a guy who really just kept trying to argue and bring up the same subject over and over. We taught him the restoration, but I am pretty sure it went in one ear and straight out the other. It finally hit him at the end when Elder Beebe was like, "look, I was Catholic and I know that this is the true church and not them." Then the guy asked us, " well what is the different between you and Catholics?" So we told him, and basically he just got quiet, and we could tell it hit him and his wife. He had nothing left to say and so we bore testimony and invited them to pray and read the Book of Mormon and to come to church. So lots of good things going on. I love being in just a Spanish speaking place again because it has helped me out so much with my Spanish again because I am speaking it all the time. So that was some of our week!

Sounds like it was a super good game (national championship game). Oh! If you could get me a shirt of the national champs or something that would be nice actually! I would love to have one.

So the scripture was actually D&C 6:36. We did find a couple new people. I did not have any experience per say like that this week but we definitely try to spend time in a certain area till we find someone. Sometimes nothing happens but you always have those little miracles. More success comes from referrals and street contacts but we definitely still knock some doors although the other night I felt like we should knock a door so we did and basically they kind of just turned us down hard core. But like I said before, I feel the Lord is just seeing if He can trust you.

I bet Ryan is doing such an awesome job. I know everyone that has gone out from our ward in Plano is doing great things in their missions. They are all so great.

I enjoy hearing things from them for sure. Be sure to send pictures! Well I love ya momma and thanks for the money again and the package I'll be getting!

Love,
Elder McArthur

January 11, 2016

Hey Momma!

Yeah so I had an ear infection in both ears, throat and nose. So he gave me some antibiotics. It hit me real hard but I'm feeling much better now.

We are right by the King of Prussia mall which is technically the largest mall in America. It's giant! We are going to today actually. There is so much history here for sure. I love it here. So my new comp is Elder Beebe. He is a Spanish elder and he is from Casa Grande, Arizona! Super close to us I think. So how funny is that. He is a great Elder for sure and we get along great. He is huge in to cars but I mean he can literally do anything to a car. It's crazy. He is a hunter and mountain biker. He is pretty tall cause I think he might be barely taller than me? Or about the exact height. I enjoy being a district leader again and guess what?! Elder Weisler is my zone leader again! Lol. So I will be going on exchanges with him again. He was super excited. We definitely have people to teach here and are working hard.

I'm so pumped Bama is going all the way! I have been enjoying my stuff for sure.

Oh and yeah those fireworks were awesome and such a great view. Luckily I'm still really close to Philly and actually part of our area is over in Philly. We are just on the outskirts. We also will hopefully be having a baptism soon. His name is J, and he is so prepared and awesome! So I'm excited. They all like my Spanish haha. I had to translate for a Spanish girl yesterday in church. Spanish to English. There are some awesome members here too, and it is the biggest ward I have been in. Our Elders quorum president speaks Spanish but has a different accent cause he served in Spain. We already helped with a move also. So things are good!

That's so awesome (President Wilding becoming a mission president)! So he was really one of a select few. I mean that's a lot but there are many members in the church. You'll have to keep me updated on that.

I did not have anything really big this week but I guess one of my favorite scriptures is Alma 26:12 I believe it is. I'll be finishing the BOM for about the 3rd time soon.

Hard to believe I have hit over 18 months! It really does not feel like it at all. This could be my last area. I did not realize that Elder Newbold actually served here. I'm going to be emailing him today. It's passing too quickly. I don't know what to think. But I will continue to enjoy myself! Well I love ya momma! Send me some pictures if you got em!

Elder McArthur

Hey Momma!

Sadly I am! It has been 4 transfers which is how long I was in my first area. We will definitely be visiting here for a bit.

So we did! I'll have to get all the pictures but T was baptized. The whole stake presidency was able to be there too! So that was very awesome. His parents came and it was funny cause his dad is a huge eagles fan and he knew exactly who President Sikahema was. They got to talk after and he told him how the church is and how he still works and has his job but does this voluntarily. It was super cool. Very spiritual baptism. Now they are going to be helping him prepare for a mission. He wants to do it! We have 1 new investigator and his name is M. On the Spanish side of course. He is family of some members here and I think he wants to be baptized. So we will see what happens though! It was a great week. So I was wearing my Alabama hoodie last P-day and this guy had on a bunch of Alabama stuff and just came up to me and started talking to us. First he said Roll tide and then asked where I was from and all of that. It was funny. Older gentleman. We also went to the Drinkwaters for New Year's Eve. That was super fun and I got to see the fireworks over the Delaware river from Camden. I'll have to send a video or something. So definitely a great week for us. It has definitely been sad saying bye to everyone but I know I'll love my next area. I think I will be strictly Spanish again.

We ate a ton. We could actually be out till 10 if we were with members so we were at the Drinkwaters.

Sounds like it was a long haul!  Sounds like a huge ward! Lots of new people coming in.

I will let you know where I am going! Well I love ya momma and hope everything goes well out there! Tell the family I love them and say hello!

Hey Mom!

It felt like everything just went by so fast (our SKYPE)! I just did not realize how little time I have. It's definitely sad. I have enjoyed my mission a ton so far and I still have time to continue to enjoy it!

Yeah! So we took Bishop Zmuda with us last night and they were all three (T and his family) there. He told us he felt prompted to see if they would all like to be baptized as a family or what he thought of is having T baptized and help him receive the priesthood so then he could baptize his sister and mom. It was a very powerful lesson and Bishop Zmuda is a great man. Very inspired. They are going to let us know tonight. That was probably the most spiritual thing about the week and also I definitely received an answer to a prayer in Elders quorum. It was really cool because we did not know what to share with a less active here who is struggling but the answer came in that lesson. I felt prompted to write it down so I did. Just lots of good things happening. We have not seen D, and I think one of the biggest ways is just really being able to care for anyone. I definitely love everyone out here no matter their circumstances. I see everything in a different prospective. I would say that. Just grown a ton spiritually cause I have read so much and prayed. It has been really great. So it was a pretty solid week for us and T actually just told us that now his Dad and Grandma are interested! That is a miracle in its own. So we are so excited! I love this area. We had 4 dinners on Christmas and got a couple Christmas cards from people.

I can tell just by the way everything has worked out. I guess nothing has really hit me just because I'm so into my mission that when I hear these things it's so weird and I guess I don't feel it's happening if that makes sense? But I trust the Lord.

Well I hope the move goes well and send me pictures if you have some too! When you get there.

Thank you again for the Christmas presents! Love ya momma!

Elder McArthur

I know! So weird that it is this week. I just wish it was even colder. This is definitely a warm Christmas. I can't believe he (Jacob Crandall) is home! I remember when he was leaving. Annie was telling me how excited she was for him to come home. So crazy how many people are going out and coming back still.

Yeah so we have a new investigator D. She is like our age and family of a family that are members in our Spanish group. It is all really new to her but she is progressing well. Yeah we just taught T last night and he is doing really well. His mom came to the Christmas party with him so she is doing well. We are going to meet with all three of them really soon so we will see how they are doing. D is doing pretty well. We are seeing him on Tuesday I believe. Also lots of people brought some friends to us yesterday. Spanish and English so will see how that goes with all of them. I love this area a lot.

Oh we also had a Christmas party on Saturday. It was really good! Like I said T and his mom came. We are going to have an awesome Christmas! We have lots of people who have signed up. We will have breakfast and dinner. We also helped the sisters with a baptism. The guy in that ward that plays for the Eagles baptized him. He was 9 and he was like as big as his leg. He's huge! His name is Bro. Bair. He served in Jacksonville, Florida. We also did an awesome finding thing in Camden. We handed out hot chocolate and showed people the new video "A Savior is Born." It went really good! We talked to so many people and it was very effective. So good stuff this week!

Not anything on K right now but we will see. We are going to be going to the temple soon actually! Like a week or two up in Manhattan. I'm super excited to go with them but he is doing awesome!

Well I am excited to skype home on Friday! I'm looking so forward to seeing everyone for sure. I love ya momma and let me know the time and everything and if you have some more pictures! Talk to ya again soon!

Hey Mom!

Yeah he is super excited (Elder Weisler, aka Jake about us moving to Arizona too)! He said it'll be just like old times haha. That will be nice to have them out there! Haha Stephen will definitely be happy. Yeah I definitely have to get back (to Plano) for a while. I hope I'll be able to speak there! I would love to. Just cause that is where I left from. Yeah the house is beautiful. I'm excited to actually see it and everything. Just crazy that we will be out there! It will be nice to be by family. Especially for all the holidays.

Yeah so we had a great week!  We also found another new family who are Puerto Rican that we are working with. Great family. We just talked to her and showed her the new Christmas initiative while she was outside setting up decorations. So we will see what happens! This would be my third baptism. Remember E? Him and Tu. But I'll probably have 5 here because I know we can get T, his mom and his Sister. Our Bishop is going to come with us to see them so we are super excited for that! So it was a great week for us. They all came to church and things are progressing very well. We also went on an exchange and I went to Camden again. It is interesting as always but it was a really good exchange. I went with Elder DeLand. He is from South Jordan like Elder Newbold(Jeffrey) haha.  He is a great Spanish elder so we had a good time. Oh! So Elder Bowman also kind of pulled me in to singing in the choir for Christmas at church. Sister Westman is in charge and asked us while I was on an exchange. But hopefully it'll go well! Haha. We have just been having lots of good things happen. I love this area a lot! So we did not get to teach K but we picked back up with D! If you remember him. He has been swamped with work cause he works the night shift and then sleeps during the day. But he should be at the Christmas program this coming Sunday. Now we are working on getting Tu to the temple! If we go we will go to Manhattan! We already mentioned it so we just have to plan a date. Tu just met with Bishop yesterday about the priesthood so everything should be good to go! I've never been to New York so that'd be awesome.

Me and Elder Bowman have definitely enjoyed all the goodies. I'm eating them a little slower. I find when I eat too much of that stuff it makes me just feel tired. His mom sent him some good fudge so we have been eating that too. Yeah so the Westmans are going to have us over so we can skype at their house. They are excited. They will be skyping with their daughter also! They have 5 daughters I believe? So big family. So we will be skyping from there and you can meet them.

I'm excited for Dad as well. I know it is a big blessing for him. Sounds like it will be a great opportunity. I bet the girls are sad and I know there friends are. But I know they will see them again! And keep in contact for sure. But I know it is hard. But I look at all the great friends I made in Dallas after the move. We will all stay friends for a very long time I know.

Well if you have any more pictures from out there or anything send them my way. I'll try to get more out today also. Love ya momma!

Love,
Elder McArthur
